February is the month of love and we thought there was no better time to share some of things we love. It goes without saying we love design but we often are asked what we most love about being a designer.  We love that our work is our passion and it requires a creative eye and a vivid imagination. Inspiration is everywhere: the hallmark vacation of the year, last week’s blanket of snow, a good book, or a walk around the block. Life is colorful when you live like a bloodhound on a hunting spree; there is always something to search-out and fixate on.

Another thing we love about being a designer is working with clients. Not only do we get to work with great people but we also get to shape the way they live in their homes. Lastly, we love that being a designer means keeping your finger on the pulse of so many different creative fields, fashion, architecture, the arts, you name it. Design is often likened to being a renaissance career because of the sheer variety. We absolutely love being renaissance women! Happy Valentines Day and warm greetings to you all!

Featured BHD Space: Spaces we love

Let’s take a trip down memory lane and discuss what we love about some of the highlights from last year!

This amazing Werthan Lofts space was featured on StyleBlueprint but we can’t get enough of the gorgeous custom wood built-ins featured in the dining room. We love the way the textured inlays in the cozy coves make accessories pop. We simply adored working on this historical meets industrial meets city chic interior!

Love #2 is this stunning Scandinavian/Post Modern inspired kitchen remodel. We love so many things about this space that it is hard to narrow down just a few things to discuss! First, we love the color story and the way the beautiful wood grain looks paired with the earthy green, graphic glass backsplash, vibrant turquoise walls, and gleaming stainless steel. We love the open geometric, block shelving that makes serving meals within reach. The slim lines of the built-ins scream minimalist modern are just the right scale.

We always love a good before & after and this example is great because it shows the sheer power of interior design. Nothing was changed except the furnishings and accessories but what a transformation! Light, bright, and colorful were the name of the game for this downtown highrise remodel!

Last but not least, we love this kitchen renovation that completely changed the look and feel of the home. The entire house was redone but like so many homes, the kitchen was the centerpiece. Here we love the whiteness of the kitchen balanced by the dark oversized center island with bar seating. We love the way two banks of window fill the space with light yet there is still plenty of upper cabinet storage. What a great kitchen remodel!

Featured Vendor: Robert Allen

Robert Allen is one of our favorite go-to vendors for fabric. A few days ago we were lucky to have a sneak peak at some of the newest lines from their collection. We are obsessed with the new colors and patterns! Indigo, rhubarb, palm, and beet, to name a few! We also love the tactile feel of the fabrics; Durable yet soft, warm, and inviting. Can’t wait to bring these fabrics to our clients!

Featured Event: Gwyneth Paltrow at the Antiques & Garden Show

We mentioned this in the last month and we are excited the time has finally arrived! If you haven’t gotten your ticket to this lecture and others make special events at the Antique & Garden make sure to do so soon! Gwyneth Paltrow’s blog has gained momentum year after year and has managed to become ubiquitous in the design world. If you aren’t familiar with her website, here is a great article to get you started. It is chockfull of tips from top designer firm Roman and Williams.

Hot Topic: Maison & Object

One of our favorite trade shows for interior design inspiration and products is Maison & Object. The show takes place several times a year in Paris, Singapore, and Miami and each show is highly anticipated. We love the international vendors and the exposure the show brings to smaller talent we might not see elsewhere. Here are a few of our current favorites: tables, chairs, lighting, and cactus vessels that remind us of our own resident artist Yuri Figueroa! Do yourself a favor and follow Maison & Object on Instagram and tag Beth Haley Design in posts you love!
