Come check out the BHD Faux Sho-house media room!
For our faux sho-house media room, I wanted to stay as far away as possible from it being a dark technology cave. I started with a beautiful textile that brings the outdoors in with a lovely scrolling Queen Anne’s lace. In order to create interest I added a pair of vintage gold sconces that are in a tight, contrasting juxtaposition to the casual, nature-inspired feel of the drapes. I feel that a mix of styles makes for a beautiful room that has a lot of depth and interest. This room is a fun combination of patterns and colors that create a great environment for entertaining. Blackout drapery panels, down filled upholstery, and soft, glowy accent lighting are the perfect ingredients for a cozy media room!
This beautiful print of Queen Anne’s lace, designed by Lauren Liess, provides the perfect backdrop for our faux-sho media room. Blackout lined draperies that can be pulled to block out all sunlight are perfect for movie night. The fresh whimsical print keeps this technology-filled room from feeling too serious or sterile.
A neutral wall covering in a travertine inspired pattern from Osborne & Little adds texture and interest without competing for attention.
A streamline media console from Crate & Barrel provides ample storage for equipment, games and dvds.
Down filled upholstery pieces offer the perfect spots to curl up for a fun night of entertainment. Luxurious black velvet on the sofa from Winsdor Smith Home and a more casual neutral linen on a pair of chairs (available through BHD) are an interesting contrast that will be both durable and beautiful over time.
Unique tables provide sculpture to the media room as well as provide a surface to set drinks or popcorn!
Bringing in pattern and color with your accent pillows is always a great way to liven up a room! In this room a combination of scales and colors combines to create a funky vibe that feels fresh!
For the kidney pillows on the chairs, a fun graphic print in an indoor/outdoor fabric repeats the orange from the sconce shades which gives the room balance.
Two 18”x18” down pillows, covered in a black and white fabric with a jute chevron accent tape, are the finishing touch for the sofa.
A small repeat fabric, used on a pair of 22” x 22” pillows for the sofa, is the link that pulls this media room’s color palette together.
This black and white spotted rug softens the look of the room and feels great under foot. It is a fun pattern that adds a little spunk and personality to the space without feeling juvenile.
A petrified wood sculpture is a beautiful decorative piece that mimics the look of the travertine wall paper. (available through BHD)
For ambiance, a pair of vintage gold sconces add a touch of glamor. The persimmon shades are a bold selection that really make a statement.
In contrast to the sparkle of the wall sconces, a rustic driftwood table lamp brings a warmth and earthiness that makes the room feel cozy and livable.
I hope you enjoyed the tour of the media room and that you were inspired to mix styles and patterns to create a fresh new look in your own home! I hope to see you in our next Faux-Show room!
