Most of the kitchens we design have a kitchen island. Not all, as they don’t work for all kitchens, but, when they do, they are the glue that brings that kitchen together, both in design and in function.  Islands add an extra counter space for chopping vegetables, serve as a drop zone for keys, bags and backpacks, and can function as extra seating during an gathering or homework space for the kids.  What other area in your home adds so much versatility?  Top the island with showstopping hardware, tile and lighting and this space becomes an essential part of your home.
