March madness is more than basketball. Somehow, without fail, every March our to-do lists explode. It is as if we’ve been hibernating all winter and all of the sudden we are bursting with energy to get projects done around the house, make plans for the summer, and renew our spaces. At BHD, we are excited to see projects progress and we are incredibly eager for the weather to improve so we can enjoy all the landscaping projects we completed last fall. Nothing inspires us like trees budding, flowers blooming, and design projects coming to fruition!

BATHROOMS GALORE
A few months ago, we did a mini-series on Instagram featuring design secrets behind some our most beloved kitchen designs. Everyone loves when we pull back the curtains and share some of what goes into creating projects so we thought we would a followup series on bathroom design. Let’s take a look behind the scenes at some of our favorite creations!
Though all eyes might be on the great soaking tub, the object that really pulls this look together is the chandelier. We wanted to find an extraordinary fixture that could balance the weight of the giant tub yet keep the space light, airy, and open.
The glass chandelier in pale blue draws the eye up and actually makes the space appear bigger. The colors are reflected in custom tile inlays in the shower, vanity backsplash, and vanity knobs. The look is unified without feeling overly matchy-matchy. And it was a surprised gift this husband staged with our help.
We love the glamour of this small powder room. By painting the walls dark and bringing in light through both a vanity light and a lit custom niche, we created drama that is sure to impress any visitor. In addition, the tile wall placed behind the toilet is totally unexpected and completes the space.
Surprise, surprise, another bathroom painted grey! This timeless master bath is glamorous and understated. We love the way the contrast created between the dark grey walls and the beautiful marble makes the design pop. The custom tile inlay is exquisite and ties in the grey. The dark tile floor in the shower futher unites the space and creates an interesting contrast with the floor.
Simplicity shines in this gorgeous, understated master bath shower. Oversize porcelain tile sets the stage for the pearlescent seaglass colored elongated tiles. The long, linear drain placed in near the back wall of the shower mimics the strong horizontal lines while above, a series of windows bath the space in natural light. What a beautiful, zen space- perfect to start and end everyday.
