Take advantage of the South’s gorgeous autumn weather. Make the most of your outdoor spaces — whether it’s a porch, patio, or lawn — and prepare for a season of al fresco lounging and entertaining while it isn’t too hot or too cold. Here are a few decorating trends for your homes exterior that we recommend trying this fall!

Dining

Just like a house has different rooms, your exterior spaces should too.  This means designating areas for different functions. A dining area and an additional spot for cocktail hour are perfect spot to enjoy nature, while others may also want a reading nook or place to lounge in their garden. Additional seating around a fireplace or for conversation is a further example of opportunities to make the most out of your exterior areas.

Outdoor kitchen

Your patios and decks should be an extension of indoor living.

Kitchens

Design an additional kitchen where you can cook comfortably all season long without heating up your kitchen. Cook your meal on the grill, then serve it up in the nearby dining area. Modern outdoor kitchens are designed not only with function in mind but socializing, too. No longer are the days when the chef is banished to the grill while everyone else enjoys the party.

Secondary kitchens should be designed for function and fun!

Indoor/Outdoor Rooms

Embrace the season without the full force of Mother Nature. Spaces that can be both indoors and out are the solution to avoiding harsh weather conditions. Sunrooms, covered porches, and enclosed patios allow you to enjoy the outdoors without being subjected to rain, direct sunlight, and other unpleasant weather conditions.

If you’re going to brave the unpredictable Southern weather, then your exterior areas should be up to the task.

Indoor/Outdoor Bars

An multiroom bar is a foolproof way to make your home a destination for friends and family. Plus, these bars can increase your home’s value by making it even more appealing for hosting and entertaining guests. Make this particular part of your house a go-to spot for both unwinding after a long day with a glass of wine or a classic cocktail and hosting barbecues and parties.

Notice how the windows open to the patio kitchen and hangout area, which provides an aesthetic and practical flow between the spaces.

It’s time to maximize the appeal of your homes exterior! We hope our recent projects have served as inspiration.
