There is a reason that white kitchens have been popular for over 100 years. In a room where so much activity takes place, and so much color is added with pantry items, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, dishes and glassware, a kitchen can act as a bit of a canvas to everything else.
At Beth Haley Design (BHD), we love color with a passion. We love color so much that if these words could be typed in color and not annoy you, we’d do it! We’ve done bright pink kitchens, green kitchens, blue kitchens and more. All that said, we definitely know how to make a white kitchen pop and be functional all at the same time.
Here are six white kitchens we’ve been honored to design in the past few years. From condos, to historic homes, to new homes, there is no reason for a white kitchen to ever be boring!
White Kitchens That Aren’t Boring
– All photos are from projects by BHD.
Green Hills New Build
In this white kitchen, texture is added with the tile design behind the stove as well as the tile design used on the backsplash. The gray veining in the countertops adds even more texture and interest. Warmth is added with the rich tone of the hardwood floors and don’t forget to note the ceiling! And, the antique rug is not only functional to stand on, it also adds visual appeal and color.

Green Hills Condo Renovation
Mixed metals and hardwood floors bring warmth to this white kitchen in Green Hills. The floors are also laid at a diagonal pattern to up the kitchen style game. The backsplash behind the stove adds visual interest and the subway tile is gray, not white, adding a subtle color play.

West Meade New Build
Between the color of the window panes, the chrome faucet and the brass cabinet hardware, this white kitchen allows these mixed metal colors to take center stage. The beautiful wood grain shines through with the stain color chosen and it all adds up to a West Meade kitchen that is white, but definitely not boring!

Brentwood Complete Renovation
The warm, white cabinets, that lean into gray, and white subway tiles provide an instant timeless look that this Brentwood homeowner wanted to achieve. With bronze and chrome metals and warm, putty wall paint, this kitchen has cabinets all the way to the ceiling, something we do often. The mid-century stools and dark hardwoods add an additional layer of contrast and interest.

Green Hills Remodel
This is our fancy white kitchen! The inspiration for this kitchen was the homeowners collection of antique silver. This kitchen has both white and dark charcoal cabinetry and we added further interest to the glass paned cabinets with some diagonal panes. This is timeless glamour!

Radnor Lake Renovation
Modern and sleek, this white kitchen has straight lines, mixed metals and mixed woods. The neutral backdrop allows the blue chairs to pop, which we absolutely love. This kitchen is also extraordinarily functional for a busy family with young children.
